Oriental Breeze
About This Spot
Perched right on the edge of Redondo Beach’s iconic Fishermans Wharf, Oriental Breeze offers a quietly captivating escape where the ocean’s gentle rhythm flows alongside warm, inviting chatter. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an intimate setting that balances the casual spirit of a beloved local spot with the thoughtful touches of an izakaya—a place where time seems to soften and meals unfold over shared sips and small plates.
The mood here is unhurried yet lively, with the sound of waves weaving through the open-air dining area, framing conversations and the clink of glasses. Sunsets transform the space into a golden haven, making it a favorite for those who cherish a meal with a view that deepens connection rather than distraction. Whether you come solo, with friends, or family, there’s a comforting sense of familiarity, as if you’ve discovered a quiet corner of the coast where stories and flavors mingle naturally.
Food at Oriental Breeze feels like an invitation to explore — not just the menu, but a thoughtful celebration of Japanese culinary traditions. The sushi arrives as colorful, artful compositions that beckon to be savored slowly, while izakaya-style offerings encourage sharing, laughter, and the comfort of well-prepared, nuanced bites. From the brightness of fresh sashimi to the soulful warmth of a hot pot, the dishes are best enjoyed with a chilled sake or a creatively crafted cocktail, pairing perfectly with the ocean breeze.
This is a place where small moments matter: quiet exchanges with attentive servers who know your name by the second visit, the gentle glow of lantern light as daylight fades, and the steady hum of community woven through each plate and pour. It’s the kind of restaurant that feels both like a discovery and a return — a sanctuary on the wharf where genuine flavor meets the calm pulse of the sea.

Saturday night dinner, should have beeon's crab fried rice had 2 tiny shards (presumably crab shell, as it came with half a top shell for presentation). Daughter had Shoyu ramen, which she loved. I had Motsu hotpot. It had a 3 tablespoons of fat chunks, and the pork was unchewable, like overcooked calamari. I would def not recommend that hotpot. Server and atmosphere (direct view of the open ocean at sunset), were VERY good!

Came by this evening to Redondo Beach pier after 3 years away from LA. We were first mesmerized by the beautiful sunset and the same relaxing vibe of the pier, then were happy to discover this new sushi restaurant. Boy did we have a great time! The restaurant staff including the chefs greeted us warmly. And we indulged in every dish. Having just been in Japan earlier this year, we honestly felt the food brought us back to Japan! Will definitely come back for more!

Excellent food, excellent service. Loved the spicy tuna on grilled rice crackers and the hot plate chicken and steak. The staff went out of their way to make my sister-in-law's birthday special. Best churros ever. Will definitely return to try more menu items

Great location on the pier above the water for a great spot to enjoy the sunset with authentic and good quality Japanese food. Service is always friendly and they do their best to accommodate you. Order Izakaya style dishes along with a cold draft beer or cold sake for a great time. Try their sushi, some tempura, fried dishes and even ramen!

One of the best sushi's I've ever tried. I had to wait a little to get in but it was all worth it. I did visit on a day when they had a limited menu available but that limited menu is better than some other full menus, this means that I am obligated to go back on a day that they have the full menu. I had one appetizer, two sushi rolls and a dessert. My appetizer of choice was the Rice Cracker Spicy Tuna. Very tasty, nice crunch to it and just the right amount of spice. I then had the Sunset Roll and the Eel roll. Love both of these, they were very fresh and tasty. Finally, I ordered a Frozen Banana & Pineapple. I had tried frozen bananas before but never a frozen pineapple. It was very good and I could have again next time if I am not tempted by their parfaits. Another thing that I loved about Oriental Breeze was the atmosphere and how welcoming the staff is. It was easy to see how much love they put into their work. I also noticed that there were a lot of Japanese guests having dinner and you know that when Japanese folks go to a Japanese restaurant, it's because it is legit.

The food is super nice. Interior actually not bad. The shop is managed by Japanese. I arrived at 6:15pm and I was the first one at dinner time. The server is nice and offered me a table near the window. The scene is good with magic hour. The food is nice. Sashimi is fresh. The customers are mainly Japanese. Highly recommended.
